Continuing Hildegard Publishing's mission to bring women composers to world attention, they here offer two volumes of lieder by the prolific Josephine Lang, who counted among her supporters such lumin aries as Mendelssohn, Stephen Heller, and both Robert and Clara Schumann.

Editor Krebs' choices for inclusion (from among some 300 songs!) show the composer's range of works, from the earliest (at age 15) to the collaboration with her eventual husband, Reinhold K??stlin (one of the most fruitful composer-poet partnerships in the history of song, according to Krebs).

Includes background informatio n, a discussion of the songs, and English translations of the texts.
