Eliyahu Hanavi is one of the many "Elijah songs" sung by almost every Jewish community from as early as the eleventh century. These folk and paraliturgical songs are sung at the departure of each Sabbath at the Havdalah service. The text, created in Babylonia and Palestine, dates from as early as the tenth century.
