The desire to catch a glimpse of the beyond is an eternal longing of humankind. Goethe, too, was fascinated by the mystical and the magical. He once gave his grandchildren a magic box as a present, believing that such a gift would be highly beneficial for their education. The box contained various small objects and magical tricks, some of which served as inspiration for this work, Goethe's Magic Box, for harp and piano.
