This edition presents Stalislao Mattei’s very short exercises (the piccoli bassi) in partimento playing according to Mattei’s 1788 autograph, preserved at the Biblioteca della Musica in Bologna. These exercises are among the most appreciated in the entire partimento repertoire, not the least due to their shortness.
