A Lullaby

The poetry of Eugene Field is captured beautifully in this composition by Ryan Murphy. The words of the lullaby speak both to a child falling asleep and to a child who does not hear his mother's song. The lilting triple meter and the movement of the piano accompaniment imitate rocking.
