A collection of 5 youthful piano works by Jan Ekier from the times of his studies) published separately by PWM in the post war years. 2 Preludes op. 1, Kołysanka (Lullaby), Humoreska (Humuresque), Mazurek (Mazurka) op.5 and the most virtuosic, Toccata op. 4 enrich the piano repertoire with valuable lesser-known works, varied in form and expression, by a talented, young composer. The compositions included in this collection may be an attractive proposal for pupils from music schools (both primary and secondary) and also for professional pianists.
The publication is released in the year of Professor Jan Ekier's 100th birthday and is preceded by an introduction by Aneta Teichman - the author of a comprehensive monograph on the eminent Professor.
The graphic design for the collection refers to the aesthetic of PWM's publications of the 1940s; the cover together with our decorative logo is a copy of the cover of J. Ekier's ''Lullaby'' - the third score published in the history of PWM. The disc included in the publication is realised using material derived from archive recordings from Polish Radio.
