Die wahrscheinlich 1690 entstandene „Messe de Minuït pour Noël“ H 9, also eine Messe für die Mitternachtsfeier am Heiligen Abend, ist nach dem „Te Deum “ H 146 die bekannteste Komposition Marc-Antoine Charpentiers. Ihr besonderer Reiz liegt in der Verarbeitung von nicht weniger als zehn volkstümlichen französischen Weihnachtsliedern. Dabei zeigt die Messe eindrucksvoll Charpentiers souveränen Umgang mit dem konzertanten Stil. Die acht Solisten (SSAATTBB), die sehr gut aus dem Chor besetzt werden...
